If you are going to help a church in conflict, you have to go deeper than the presenting stories. One common characteristic of churches stuck in unresolved conflict is what I call, “Issue-Position Thinking”. Hearing the leaders’ and members’ stories demonstrates that they have stopped at naming the issues they face and then discussing each persons position on those issues. Since those positions are different, the result is they fail to resolve. They fail to live in reconciled relationships. So, how might you help them? This workshop, “The Anatomy of an Assessment”, will give one answer to that question. A Biblically faithful process will be outlined and illustrated, with specific examples of church assessments. Participants will walk away from this workshop with a transferable model of assessing a church in conflict.
