Philippians 4:6 Church leaders should continually bring people back to the Word of God and exhort people to trust the Lord. Thanksgiving ought to be the rhythm of the believer.
1 Timothy 2:1-2 Church leaders can exhort people to trust in the Lord, be thankful, and to pray for others. When we pray for others, we seek the heart of God which is peace through the sacrifice of Christ. The attention then is fixed upon Jesus who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing and is himself our peace.
James 5:16 This verse encourages church members to be vulnerable with one another and to be quick to offer forgiveness to on another.

I don't think I've ever been in an Elder Board meeting that has had a full 45min Bible Study. Typically it's expected the Elders are in weekly adult Bible studies once or twice a week.

It means its a noble task, and not for the faint of heart. It is a high calling by God not to be undertaken lightly.

Philippians 4:6 Leading without being driven by anxiety, but trusting in the Lord, offering all our needs to Him in prayer and thanking him for hearing us and answering us.
1 Timothy 2:1-2 We need to be praying for our people in our church as well as for the world around us including our government officials.
James 5:16 We need to confess and pray, to one another and for one another. Pray for repentance, forgiveness, and faith, and pray for healing of the sick.

Joshua 1:8 Church leaders should be grounded in the Word of God. Study it, meditate on it, love it, teach it, and depend on it.
Acts 2:42 Devoted to sound doctrine in the Word of God, devoted to true Chrisitan fellowship, devoted to good hospitality, devoted to the Lord's Supper, and constant in prayer, always depending on God
Colossians 3:16 As we dedicate ourselves to the Word of God, we then share it with others, in words of encouragement, admonishment, in wisdom, but not just through words also in our hearts singing God's Word of truth to one another. As we can be united in thanksgiving for all that he has given us and blessed us with.

Watch yourself and your teaching. Neither one is more important than the other, they go hand in hand. Not just our lives and actions, but our theology and staying grounded in scripture. You might have all the correct theology, but if it hasn't transformed your mind and heart it's dead orthodoxy. If you have faith and true Christian living, but not being grounded in Good theology, you might easily slip away into false teachings that could destroy your faith. SO both life and theology are critically important.

1- Laying down your rights for a weaker brother. Specifically regarding alcohol, not drinking around people unless you know they don't have a drinking problem and are ok with you drinking. 2- Setting clear boundaries when meeting with youth or women. Like never meeting a woman one on one, or behind a closed door (without a glass window) without a secretary or someone else who knows and can check in on you. Not just to be far from any temptation, but far away form any potential accusations. 3- Not being stubborn in your own ways of doing things. As an LB Church, the other elders and church look to the pastor for guidance in many ways, but that doesn't mean they will always agree with you. You need to humbly submit to their choices and direction, even if you disagrees. Being hard noised, arrogant, and stubborn will just cause problems and division in the leadership and church.

Above reproach is not sinless perfection . . . otherwise no one except Jesus could serve as an Elder. It is a man who daily repents, confesses, and believes in the forgiveness of sins freely given through Jesus Christ. Living daily in the righteousness of Christ.
