Paul urges leaders to persevere/watch themselves (actions and lifestyle) and their teaching (doctrine). I have been sitting here trying to figure out which one I think is most important, and I've come to the conclusion that I believe it depends on the person. If I had to choose one I would say watching over your teaching and doctrine is more important, because it is through Christian theology (and more importantly Christ himself) that I understand myself. I believe that actions and lifestyle will follow belief, because belief in the gospel actually changes actions and lifestyle. All of that being said, I think personality plays a large part in determining which is more important for the individual to keep an eye on, but carefully paying attention to our actions and theology are both essential.

1. Not engaging in or gently pointing out that speaking about LGBT individuals in a derogatory way is unloving. 2. Providing a positive example by the way that I prioritize my wife and family. 3. Leading a weekly men's prayer breakfast.

To be above reproach means that no one could honestly bring an accusation against you. A person who is above reproach is a sinner who's sin has been dealt with through repentance and absolution, sin is not kept secret or hidden.

Acts 6:2-4 Lay Leader: These leaders are to be "full of the Spirit and wisdom." I think an argument can be made that we are also given a positive "key characteristic" for pastors in the devotion of the twelve in preaching the Word.
1 Timothy 3:1-7 Pastor: These "overseers" are to be "above reproach, faithful to his wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money, He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him, and he must do so in a manner worthy of full respect, he must not be a recent convert, and he must also have a good reputation with outsiders."
1 Timothy 3:8:13 Pastor: Deacons are to be worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much wine, not pursuing dishonest gain, they must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience, they must be tested, they must be faithful to their wife and must manage their children and household well.

I am not sure. I do not think there is any time saved. I think that there is just less time in the meeting but each person will have more time out of the meeting and perhaps even longer because they do not understand the reports.
