I'd say Phil Heiser and Elroy Vesta. Along with care offered through retreats.

Church members should care for their pastors and other church workers in good times and in times of adversity by giving; whether that's financial support, a listening ear, or a word of encouragement.

The Philippians financially supported Paul and Onesiphorus provided a comforting presence

If we used the extra time for Bible study and prayer, our group could grow closer as we draw near to God. We'd set the tone and remember the foundation of our mission. I once heard someone say, "we ought to be soaking in Scripture and praying ourselves hot."

It would mean we can spend more time talking about big ideas and planning. Everyone can come ready with questions or thoughts because they already know what's in the reports. This can make our meetings shorter (better attention).

I can't help but think that we could do more to center around the Word and prayer. It's such a fundamental aspect of our calling, and I believe it could make a significant difference in how we operate. First off, I think we should consider extending our Bible study time during our meetings. This would allow us to delve deeper into Scripture, explore relevant passages or themes, and really apply the Word to our decision-making process.

Comparing this Elder Board Agenda to our typical meetings, we don't include an opening devotion but we focus old and new business. While "putting out fires" isn't officially on our agenda, it tends to take priority. The Elder's service schedule doesn't align with elder duties

my central focus is turning to God's Word and giving priority to prayer. I believe in leading by example, living out my faith authentically, and creating a culture where everyone joins in prayer for each other and our community.
