First, ask to schedule one. Even showing an interest is an encouragement. A "drop-by" visit is not recommended until a level of trust has been developed in the relationship.

Realistically, no one. District Presidents and Circuit Visitors are "officially" charged with this, but are so busy that it rarely happens except in crises. It's left to pastors to find and develop a pastoral relationship on their own, which is very difficult because of high levels of distrust among many pastors. Defining "pastoral care" as the personal application of God's Word, receiving the blessings of the sacraments, praying for and with a person--how is a typical pastor to receive any of this from another pastor? Reflect on the basic logistics.

Spiritual: Pray for specific needs, which they can learn by asking. Respond to preaching and teaching in words and behavior that demonstrates an increase in discipleship.; Church Responsibilities: Promote and protect day/time off. Assess needs throughout the congregation's ministry and recruit/train/retain/mentor volunteers to assist (or take over) certain tasks.; Family: Allow for family time, especially and holidays, special occasions. Note that this will differ depending on the age/circumstances, e.g., a pastor with young children or a teacher will a disabled spouse or a church worker with an aging, ill parent.; Physical: Encourage healthy habits, exercise, recreation, regular doctor visits.; Mental: Promote and encourage time for study--even formal continuing education; but also learning not connected to ministry. Encourage hobbies and allow time for them.; Social: Include church workers in social activities. Encourage church workers to develop and maintain friendships (which will often be outside the congregation).; Financial: Provide for the church worker and family according to the general level of the members of the congregation. Review compensation, including salary and all benefits, at least yearly.

we could spend more time praying for individual members and needs of the congregation. Time to grow spiritually together as a group of men

Share all good things with them. Respect them and protect their reputation from false accusations. Esteem them highly in love and be at peace with them.

The board would become better equipped to handle tough decisions in a loving Christian way. To make decisions that are not out of fear or compulsion but with patience and trust in God to help face the challenges set before the board. Giving thanks to God for all the blessings He has already provided in the leaders and their abilities, the opportunities to serve the congregation faithfully, the material and other resources available, and the opportunities to share the Gospel and be of service in the communities of the congregation members - the church.

Have more time to pray about and think about any possible decisions that need to be made and also better questions to ask. Also, it would allow for more discussion time for the Bible study and devotion at each meeting and finishing the meeting at a reasonable time.
