Communication, follow through, apathy, pessimism, lack of self control, having an agenda, not respecting the leaders of the church or the Pastor, trying to be the one who will save the church, not listening to the needs or ideas of others, "we've always done it this way"

Keep a close eye on yourself and what you are teaching. Study the scriptures so when you are telling someone or teaching you are teaching the truth and not your own opinions. Keep right minded, do not be swayed by the evil one how you think and act. Am I glorifying God or myself?

In a world full of vulgarity, your speech should be kind, not gossip and no vulgar words. Be willing to speak up about your faith. How you treat others with kindness and humility sets the tone for others to follow.

Paul encourages us to look at our own lives and how we live as Christian leaders, so we don't teach the correct Biblical way and live another way, by teaching and example we will save ourselves and our hearers.

Live responsibly as Christians, speaking the truth in love and asking forgiveness when we sin against our brothers and sisters in this life. Love others as Christ loves us (me), and in faith and purity live a Christ-centered life in the public forum.

For January meeting of Council a suitable text would be Matt 2:1-12 This would return our thinking to the Christmas story and the good news. The emphasis on giftedness reminds us of our God given gifts as we start the new year. Our thankfulness for gifts RECEIVED include faith, grace, salvation. These we share, as leadership, with the congregation ministering to them this year. We also are reminded that the gift givers in Matthew gave gifts and then returned hoe. Our worship is receiving gifts from God in Word and Sacrament to be taken by us into the world. Discussion: How is your baptism one of the greatest gifts from God? How does baptism get carried by you into the world? How can each of us assist you in sharing your faith with others? How can we continue to work to encourage congregational members to share their faith with others? Closing prayer Gifts abound this time of year, those given to the Babe in Bethlehem and the gifts brought by Jesus to us. Make us mindful of those gifts as we live our lives and do our responsibilities in this congregation. Help us share our gifts with others, support each other in developing and using our gifts. This in Jesus name. Amen
