To live a life in such a manner where there is not even a hint of inappropriate behavior that would bring disgrace or shame to Jesus Christ and His Church.

Paul said he had all he needed to continue with his ministry. They had supplied him well with great care and concern.

1. To step forward to help when asked. 2. To pray for the pastors and their ministries. 3. To discount idle gossip and look for the truth in each situation.

Great care and concern to meet all of his needs at that time. He said there was nothing else he needed for his work thanks to them.

We would become more focused on God and stress less about items we have little control over.

A board member will have time to read the report and come to the meeting with questions. Some reports can be too long for a first read at a meeting.

1. Have a devotion for each meeting 2. Stick to the agenda instead of branching off on new fires by addressing those items after the main agenda items. 3. Keep track of time for each agenda item so hot issues do not eat up the whole meeting.

Our board agendas are similar, but too much time is spent putting out fires. Right now, I think our board has a handle on identifying troubling issues, but there is little if any discretionary money to fix the big ones (parking lot, etc.) Our board does well on creating a budget each year and making sure all the ministries are represented, but without a growing and active membership, we continue running deficits. We are careful with the money God has given us and I challenge anyone to find fluff and wastefulness in our budget.

I'd better develop a thicker skin against push back and criticism. To think and plan for the church is of little value unless I turn them into actions with deliverables.

Frustrations were the same a couple thousand years ago as they are now. Little has changed.

Philippians 4:6 Put your total trust in God in prayer and know that He will answer all.
1 Timothy 2:1-2 To pray for our leaders, which seems to be unpopular in these hate-fueled times on social media.
James 5:16 To reach those souls who feel they are beyond God's forgiveness and grace (Ex-Catholics have been taught that only the priest can forgive sins, which is hard to give up believe in.)

Joshua 1:8 Exhibit Christ's love in all things.
Acts 2:42 Visit the sick and shut-ins and bring Communion. Exhibiting fellowship to all.
Colossians 3:16 Teaching and admonishing, not being coy about discussing difficult topics.

People who: Lack faith, idle or mean gossip, act without first knowing all of the facts, seek to stir up trouble, talk a lot but do not do.

Anyone can keep a close watch on the scriptures for a short time, but to persist daily in this task is important.

August 19, 2019 at 10:09:21 AM

1. Know first what you believe in and why? 2. Practice in deed and mind so you will be ready for the test. 3. Trust in God to provide the words you will need in times of strife and unrest.
