If you think the ICC Rules of Procedure are dry, boring, and can’t help your ministry, then this workshop is for you. The Rules are here to help. They save you from having to think about all the pesky procedural details that are implicit to mediation and arbitration: people smarter than us have already figured it out! We’ll review the Rules, pointing out some of the more critical ones, while considering scenarios that apply the Rules to some typical situations conciliators encounter.

Even in the best of churches, conflict is inevitable on some level. But what if the best fight is the one a church never has to have because its members have determined to do their best at intentionally cultivating practices that promote peace and preserve the treasured gift of unity? In this workshop we will explore biblical principles and helpful tools for equipping you with the insight and practices you need for a proactive pursuit of unity in your church.

We will look at what Scripture says about the identity, attributes, and responsibility of a peacemaker. We will consider the peacemaker’s blessings and challenges. And we will discuss the realities of being a peacemaker and peacemaking from a Biblical perspective.

This year, the International Day of Peace focuses on the theme, ‘Cultivating a Culture of Peace’—a theme that commemorates the 21st anniversary of the UN’s adoption of the Declaration and Programme of Action on a Culture of Peace. While the resolution outlines many crucial aspects needed to build such a culture, it overlooks a vital perspective: the teachings of Jesus, the Prince of Peace, and the specific roles that leaders and followers play in fostering this culture.

In this workshop, we’ll delve deep into this overlooked space.

Using PeaceWise’s innovative Culture of Peace Petri Dish tool, we will explore what a biblical vision of a culture of peace truly looks like. Through an interactive presentation and meaningful dialogue, we’ll examine the distinct roles that all team members—whether leaders or followers—play in nurturing this culture.
