The objective of the workshop will be to explore the theme of “Community based Policing and the Ministry of Reconciliation”. Under the topic we shall have the following sub topics for discussion: - a) Community-based policing capacity enhancement b) Community-Based Policing as a Model for Police Reform, c) Fundamental Principles of Community-Based Policing, e) Neighborhood policing and f) analyze the role and responsibilities of a Christian police officer in reconciliation within the community. The expected outputs of the workshop are to highlight the achievements and challenges therein, to make stakeholders aware of the values and importance of equipping the Christian police officers with knowledge and skills on community based policing and to demonstrate the positive impact of this commitment on change and transformation into peacebuilding, justice and reconciliation agents. By the end of the workshop, it is expected that the participants will have gained knowledge, understanding and confidence on community based policing model and shall embrace it for peacebuilding and reconciliation. Further, major practical approaches of execution will be discussed in the workshop to make sure that they fit in the respective contexts of security and law. In addition to this, a proposal shall be made to participant to pilot this model in their respective countries, departments or areas of operation.

As these “instruments” are we prepared for surprises and pitfalls that can occur in a mediation? We will identify surprises and pitfalls often experienced and discuss how to prepare for and to respond to them when they occur.
